This news article highlights the successful conclusion of activities in Irbid Governorate, Jordan, under the EU Madad Fund project “Support to Livelihoods through Cultural Heritage Development.” The project aimed to create employment opportunities for vulnerable Jordanians and Syrian refugees by focusing on employment-intensive initiatives in Northern Jordan’s cultural heritage sites. It involved basic conservation work in Umm Qais, Beit Eidis, and Pella, with 540 workers participating over four months.

Fadi Balawi, the Director-General of the Department of Antiquities, praised the project for its contribution to preserving cultural heritage and creating sustainable livelihoods in the community. European Union Representative Mary Horvers commended the program for providing dignified employment opportunities and supporting entrepreneurship in the cultural heritage sector.
