Eid Al Adha is called “the big Eid” in Jordan.

In 2025, it will start on the evening of Friday, June 6, and end on Wednesday, June 11.

This Eid is called Eid Al-Adha because Muslims sacrifice sheep or cows.

The sacrifice starts after the Eid prayer on the first morning of Eid and continues for 4 days.
Before the sacrifice:

It is Sunnah (a tradition in Islam) not to cut nails or hair for 10 days before Eid.
Eid activities in Jordan:

Buying new clothes, especially for children.

Visiting family members, especially women visiting close female relatives.

Going out to parks or fun places with games for children.

Giving Eidiya (money gifts) to children and women.

There is no fixed amount.

It depends on what each person can give.

It is not required if someone cannot afford it.

Serving sweets to guests like Eid cookies (Ka’ak) and chocolates.

All government and private offices are closed, except for markets, hospitals, and emergency services.
