Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Completes Preparations to Welcome Local Visitors During Eid Al-Fitr Holiday” The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority has finalized its arrangements to receive local visitors during the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr holiday. Chairing a coordinating meeting on Sunday, the President of the Authority’s Board of Commissioners, Naif Al Fayez, led discussions among all relevant entities in Aqaba regarding the mechanisms for cooperation to ensure the provision of comprehensive services for citizens and visitors during the holiday. Al Fayez emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination between public and private entities with expertise in facilitating all necessary measures for the convenience of citizens and visitors to Aqaba during Eid Al-Fitr, in collaboration with the Governorate’s Office. A comprehensive plan has been developed for the Eid holiday period, covering border crossings, customs, King Hussein International Airport, port systems, as well as health, administrative, tourism, and service sectors, in addition to the maintenance of facilities, parks, and public beaches. The Authority has also arranged a free entertainment program for visitors at the Arab Revolt Square and Park, featuring artistic performances, national and folk songs, children’s educational plays, handicrafts bazaars, and aerial artistic displays in the skies of Aqaba. Notably, the National Customs Department, Aqaba Ports Corporation, Aqaba Container Terminal Company, Customs, Food and Drug Administration, Agriculture Directorate, Standards and Metrology Department will operate around the clock throughout Eid Al-Fitr, except for the first day, to ensure the continuous flow of goods and supply chains. Al Fayez highlighted that specialized police units, in coordination with the Transport Directorate and Aqaba Transport Company, have devised a plan to monitor traffic conditions on all streets, redirecting traffic if necessary to prevent congestion, and designating areas for public transport buses outside and within the city. Furthermore, health inspection teams within the Authority, in collaboration with relevant authorities, will monitor food markets, restaurants, and food establishments around the clock, focusing on peak hours of shopping, and addressing citizens’ complaints and observations through the Operations Room hotline. The City Services Directorate, in cooperation with “Orbaser,” the company responsible for Aqaba’s cleanliness, has developed a plan to maintain the city’s cleanliness level, with enhanced staffing in crowded areas, especially in the commercial market, facilities, parks, and beaches during the Eid holiday. The Authority will distribute informative leaflets at the entrances of Aqaba and broadcast educational text messages outlining environmental violations, such as unauthorized camping in public areas, parks, sidewalks, littering in non-designated areas, and swimming in restricted areas due to their hazards for non-swimmers. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for citizens and visitors alike during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday in Aqaba.
