To provide easier transportation for tourists in Petra, free transport services have been launched. These services cater to those who want to visit Little Petra in the village of Beidha, as well as those interested in accessing Petra from the back gate. One of the advantages of using the back gate is that it reduces the amount of walking compared to the front gate. From the front gate, visitors walk to explore the sites and then return via the same route. However, starting from the back gate allows you to begin your journey at the end point, near the Monastery, and walk toward the front gate.
Bus routes and schedules:
- Route 1: From the Petra Visitor Center to Little Petra, every 30 minutes.
- Route 2: From Little Petra to the Visitor Center, every 30 minutes.
- Route 3: From Little Petra to the Monastery by car, every 30 minutes.
You can also walk from Petra back gate to the Monastery. While the start of the trail may seem easy, it gets more difficult towards the end. It’s advised not to walk during hot weather as the distance is about 8 kilometers. Make sure to plan ahead before starting your journey.
There are also ticket booths and local guides available at Petra back gate.
