Hashem Restaurant is located in downtown Jordan. It is one of the old and famous restaurants for both locals and tourists. It has been serving traditional dishes for over 50 years.
Founder of Hashem Restaurant: In 1952, the founder, Mr. Hashem from Jaffa, started selling his famous dish, falafel, from a small cart on the street. The falafel became very popular, and he eventually opened a small restaurant in downtown Amman.
Dishes at Hashem Restaurant: Hashem offers dishes such as ful (fava beans), hummus, falafel, hummus fattah (chickpea dish), tortillas, falafel and hummus sandwiches, and popular local dishes like tomato sauté and “mufarka” (potatoes and eggs). They also serve drinks like tea, Pepsi, and juices.
Busy Times: Hashem’s meals are light, typically eaten for breakfast and dinner. It’s especially busy in the mornings and evenings, particularly on Friday mornings (the weekend) when many people visit. It can also be crowded around midday, mostly with tourists or Jordanians from outside Amman.
Hashem Expansion: Due to its worldwide popularity, Hashem Restaurant has expanded to several countries. It now has branches in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. However, the original location in downtown Amman, surrounded by old buildings, remains special as it tells the restaurant’s historical story.
