Jordan’s hotel industry experienced a remarkable boost in occupancy rates for the first half of 2023, outpacing the figures from the same period in 2022. Amman, the capital city, witnessed an impressive 11 percent surge, while the Dead Sea region enjoyed a substantial rise of 23 percent. Other popular destinations like Petra, Madaba, and various provinces also saw positive growth, with occupancy rates increasing by 15 percent, 11 percent, and 12 percent, respectively.
The success in Amman’s hotel occupancy was attributed to a combination of factors, including hosting weddings, conferences, festivals, and captivating musical events, as mentioned by Hussein Hallalat, the deputy head of the Jordanian Hotels Associations. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to further enhance tourism throughout the year in the Kingdom.
Moreover, April witnessed an unprecedented surge in tourist arrivals during the first quarter of 2023, with a staggering 90.7 percent increase compared to the previous year. The Kingdom welcomed 1.476 million sightseers, a significant jump from the 774,111 visitors in the same period last year.
