UNWTO, renowned for its commitment to preserving rural areas, natural landscapes, cultural diversity, local values, and culinary traditions, selected Al-Sila Village for its third cycle of recognition. Out of a whopping 260 villages from across the globe, 54 were chosen, with 20 new additions to the UNWTO’s development program. With this, a total of 74 outstanding villages are now part of UNWTO’s esteemed network of the best tourist villages.

Al-Sila Village, just 16 kilometers south of the vibrant Tafilah city, is a treasure trove of history and culture. It boasts a historical fortress, standing as a testament to thousands of years of human civilization. Within its walls lie palaces, caves, mesmerizing examples of art and sculpture, architectural wonders, ancient irrigation systems, and watchtowers of archaeological significance.
