Jordan-Ryanair Agreement Renewed

Jordan’s Tourism Boosted by Renewed Partnership with Ryanair”

In a significant move, the Jordanian tourism sector has received a major boost with the renewal of a cooperation agreement between the Jordan Tourism Board and Ryanair, the renowned Irish low-cost airline. The agreement, set to extend until 2028, marks a crucial step in enhancing the tourism industry of the nation.

Under the renewed agreement, Ryanair will introduce 4 new routes, further expanding its network between Jordan and various European destinations. This expansion will result in a remarkable total of 25 routes connecting the Kingdom with 12 European cities – a milestone that has never been achieved before in Jordan’s history.

The signing ceremony, attended by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Chairman of the Jordan Tourism Board, Mukhamed Qaisi, and Ryanair’s CEO, Eddie Wilson, along with the Director-General of the Jordan Tourism Board, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, emphasized the significance of this agreement. Qaisi expressed his satisfaction, highlighting the importance of low-cost airlines in attracting tourists to Jordan. He noted the positive shift in tourist arrivals following the easing of pandemic-related restrictions.

Qaisi further added, “We are pleased to see an increase in the number of routes with Ryanair, a global airline. This increase is anticipated to significantly boost tourist numbers in the Kingdom in the coming period.”

Arabiyat, the Director-General of the Jordan Tourism Board, emphasized the pivotal role of low-cost flights in propelling the growth of Jordan’s tourism sector. This growth has led to a substantial increase in tourist numbers. Arabiyat predicted that the Kingdom will continue to witness an upward trajectory in tourist arrivals, a trend that has been in motion since 2018.

Arabiyat also highlighted the positive impact of the expected increase in tourist numbers on the distribution of tourism-related gains across various provinces. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of marketing tourism experiences within the Kingdom, which would create new employment opportunities for local communities.

With a strong social media presence and a large following, Ryanair is well-equipped to leverage professional and compelling marketing content to increase awareness about tourism in Jordan, according to Arabiyat.

Eddie Wilson, the CEO of Ryanair, expressed his delight in renewing the partnership with Jordan, a collaboration that has been ongoing for the past five years. He believes that this renewal will lead to an increase in the number of routes between Ryanair and the Kingdom.

Wilson also noted the positive impact of Ryanair’s services in Jordan, citing the enhancement of the dynamics of the tourism sector. This has resulted in a surge of entirely new categories of tourists, especially from Eastern Europe, flocking to Jordan.

With the agreement renewal between the Jordan Tourism Board and Ryanair, the number of routes is set to increase to 25, with over 100 weekly flights expected. This development is projected to bring in more than 600,000 passengers annually to and from Jordan. Such growth is expected to lead to a surge of up to 30% in tourism to Jordan compared to the year 2022, solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a thriving tourism destination.
