King Abdullah II Emphasizes Unleashing Ajloun’s Potential in Tourism and Agriculture

King Abdullah II stressed the importance of unlocking the vast potential of Ajloun Governorate in tourism and agriculture during a meeting with local community leaders. The meeting, attended by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on utilizing the cable car project as a catalyst to enhance the tourism product in Ajloun. King Abdullah called for connecting the project to other attractions in the governorate to create a comprehensive tourism experience.

Highlighting the government’s masterplan for Ajloun, King Abdullah reaffirmed the commitment to implementing political, economic, and administrative modernization tracks to achieve comprehensive development and improve service quality. Regional developments, particularly the Palestinian cause, were discussed, with the King underscoring Jordan’s role in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He emphasized that supporting Palestine and Jerusalem is a collective duty.

The Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, briefed King Abdullah and Crown Prince Al Hussein on the comprehensive masterplan for Ajloun, focusing on agriculture and tourism as key areas of development. The 20-year plan includes 120 projects, ranging from completed initiatives like the cable car project to ongoing and proposed endeavors. The government aims to engage the local community in the implementation process.

It was noted that Ajloun has already benefited from Royal initiatives, with projects exceeding a value of JD11 million. These initiatives cover various sectors, including education, youth empowerment, social development, tourism, public services, and support for productive and agricultural projects.

The meeting was attended by top officials, including the Director of His Majesty’s Office, Jafar Hassan, the Advisor to His Majesty for Tribal Affairs, Atef Hajaya, the Interior Minister, Mazen Farraya, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, the Director General of the Public Security Directorate, Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah, and Ajloun Governor, Qablan Sharif.
